Step inside Liability and you find a compact, modern-rustic taproom built for talking to people. There are no TVs and few distractions by design, just a handful of tables, a few seats at the bar, and a dog-friendly plaza patio shared with the neighbors. The room holds around fifty, so a weekend night fills up fast and the energy comes off the crowd rather than a screen.
The lineup runs close to eighteen taps and ranges wide, from black lager and Kolsch to hazy IPAs, Belgians, and sours. The brewery has been at it since 2018 and sources more than ninety percent of its malts from the Carolinas, and the beer names carry the house sense of humor. Reviewers keep naming the Mortal Wombat IPA as the flagship, with the Feral Garden Gnome Belgian blonde close behind. Flights arrive in old-school metal lunch boxes, and with no kitchen on site, most people carry in barbecue from Moe's Original right next door.
The beertenders know the lineup cold and will happily walk you through it, and it is not unusual to find one of the owners behind the taps. What people single out most in reviews is the beer quality and the easy, unhurried feel, which is how the place keeps landing on short lists of the Upstate's best breweries.
It sits a block west of North Main, a short walk from the downtown trolley stop at Stone and Main, an easy first or last pour on a night out at the north end of downtown.
