CAMP came up through Table 301, the Greenville restaurant group that tends to open a place, hand it to the operator who runs it, and let them buy in over time. It opened in 2021 in Camperdown Plaza downtown, and in 2024 Brian Crossan, a Table 301 veteran going back to his server days at Soby's, took it over as sole owner. The room fits the story: clean lines and natural textures, an open kitchen and a busy bar, polished but not precious, with a patio for warm nights.
The cooking is modern American with a global streak and a menu that changes often, built for grazing: shared small plates like pork-and-shrimp dumplings, mussels toast, and handmade cavatelli with a pork-cheek ragout, alongside seared steaks and vegetable-forward plates that lean on local farms. The wine program is a real draw, a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence list deep enough that the staff will walk you through a pairing. The best seat is the chef's counter, right at the open kitchen.
It suits a particular kind of evening: a couple of friends or a date working through shared plates and a good bottle downtown, no special occasion required to justify it.
